Three Creek Lake is a 76-acre, alpine lake with an elevation of 6,550 feet located south of Sisters.  Much of the 16 mile drive from Sisters is along rough dirt roads and takes ~30-40 minutes.  Vehicles with low clearance are not recommended.

Due to its high elevation and depth of 11-28 feet, the lake can remain cool well into summer.   Its beach is popular for swimming and sun bathing.

Note: the launch is undeveloped and motorized boats are not allowed.

Take OR-22 SE to W Hood Ave in Sisters (108 miles). The initially paved road will shortly transform to the gravel NF-16.  Follow the signs and left branch to FS-16, which is even more rough.

Though most members travel to this outing as a day trip, many will stay in Sisters or camp at the lake.

The Three Creek Campground has only 11 sites, many not compatible with RVs and trailers.  The campground has pit toilets and no water.  Due to its small size and popularity, early reservations are recommended.

ODFW heavily plants rainbow trout (including trophy trout), and the fishing is frequently very productive.  Brook trout are present as well.

Fly Fishing Techniques

Dry fly action during Callibaetis hatches is common and often highly productive.  Nymph patterns fished with a Hover/slow intermediate line also work well.
