President - Ken Karnosh

I have fished for over 50 years, have fished with and tied some flies for about 30 years, but have come to truly enjoy fly fishing in the past 10 years.  I especially enjoy fishing lakes in my float tube or pontoon boat for trout and warm water fish.  I attended several Flycasters meeting over the years and became a member several years ago, because I enjoyed the meetings, presentations, and the outing sounded like fun.  The Outings are really enjoyable with plenty of fishing opportunities, lots of food, and chances to learn new fishing spots and catching tips.  Now, I need to convince my wife Sue to take her fly rod along with her book to cruise the lakes in her pontoon boat.

Vice-President – Dwight Klemin

I’m a retired (mostly tired) music teacher. I earned the CI, MCI and THCI certifications from the FFF by spending many hours refining my casting, teaching and knowledge. I have spent the last seven years as Oregon Council VP of Education and as Education Chair for the NW Expo. I enjoy teaching, fly-cast coaching and pasting skills and knowledge to others in the fly fishing community. I see the grass roots efforts as the backbone to our sport and wish to continue the strong "grass-root tradition" of our club.

I'm a life-long fisherman and have been fishing Oregon waters for 5 decades, beginning in the mid '60s while in the Coast Guard at Newport. I bought my first fly rod in mid '70s, and used it primarily on the streams of Mt Shasta.  I moved to the Willamette Valley in 2007, having retired from a career in academic program administration at the University of California.  I'm currently serving as club treasurer, membership, webmaster and annual auction chair. I've learned more about fly casting and tying and fishing in the past four years as a club member than I had in the previous 30 years on my own. I highly recommend the club to anyone who wants to take their fly fishing to the next level.

About 10-12 years ago, my son took me to the upper McKenzie River for our annual Fathers Day outing. At my request, he taught me to fly fish, and I was absolutely hooked on the sport in the first five minutes. Today, 99% of my fishing is with a fly rod. I joined Santiam Flycasters about five years ago in order to improve my skills and my knowledge of fly fishing. It was indeed one of the best decisions I have ever made in regard to fishing. The programs and outings that the club sponsors and provides have been a real blessing to me in my pursuit of a tight line.

I've been a member for a while, I can't really remember when I started.  Truthfully I can't remember life before the club.  It's kind of nice to have a past teacher on the board with you and have your 20-plus year fishing buddy with you also.  In the last few years I have attended almost every outing and have grown into my fly fishing since then.  I tie and cast to catch fish, if you know what I mean.  I'm still in search for a 30" plus inch native rainbow, only 1/2" to go.

I have been fly fishing for about 15 years.  I enjoy taking my pontoon boat down any navigable river for trout and steelhead.  I also enjoy stillwater fly fishing, some of my favorites are Hosmer Lake and Gold Lake. I have been a club member since 2002. I became a board member in 2003, and was president 2005-2009.

I'm a farmer, tennis player, and a fly fishermen. The club has a group of very knowledgeable fly fishermen that usually catch more fish. My goal is learn from them how to catch more fish and to have someone to go fishing with. Lately I have been trying to learn to tie some flies.
