Tim's PhotoTim is a life-long fisherman and enjoys fishing in all of its various forms – from rock fishing at low tide from a Pacific reef to winter steelhead fishing an Oregon coastal stream or pontoon fishing on an alpine lake.  He has been fishing Oregon waters since the mid '60s when he was in the Coast Guard at Newport, and began fly fisherman the '70s on the rivers of Mt Shasta.  He was finally able to move to Willamette Valley in 2007, having retired from a career in academic program administration at the University of California.  Tim says, "The Santiam Flycasters is an amazing organization. With knowledgeable and entertaining monthly speakers and fabulous club outings, it's a must membership for Willamette Valley fly fishermen and fisherwomen."

Secretary – Ken Karnosh

KenI have fished for over 50 years, have fished with and tied some flies for about 30 years, but have come to truly enjoy fly fishing in the past 10 years.  I especially enjoy fishing lakes in my float tube or pontoon boat for trout and warm water fish.  I attend several Flycasters meeting over the years and became a member several years ago, because I enjoyed the meetings, presentations, and the outing sounded like fun.  The Outings are really enjoyable with plenty of fishing opportunities, lots of food, and chances to learn new fishing spots and catching tips.  Now, I need to convince my wife Sue to take her fly rod along with her book to cruise the lakes in her pontoon boat.

Concessions – Richard Newell

RichardI started fly fishing not long after I returned to Oregon after a six-year visit to California. I found out about Santiam Flycasters from one of the fly shops. I joined primarily to get information on fly-fishing destinations. I've been a member since 1995. I remember my first outing was the October Deschutes River outing where I had my first tug from a steelhead. I took over from Ron as the Newsletter Editor for a few years as a non-board member. Eventually I officially joined the Board as Editor. In 1992 I was voted in as the Vice President. I am currently serving the Board as "Donut Dude", in charge of concessions.

FFF Representative – Bob Gabler

BobI have been fly fishing for 62 years.  I started fishing for crappie and trout around Baltimore.  Since the beginning I have fished all over Maryland first in fresh water and later in saltwater.  While in school in Florida I fished for bass around Tallahassee, Fort Walton, and Destin.  I also did some saltwater fishing in the Florida Keys.  Since coming to Oregon, I have fished all over the state.  I was tying flies at the Outdoor show in Portland and at Seaside when the conclave was there.

Craig Knoll

CraigI've been a member for a while, I can't really remember when I started.  Truthfully I can't remember life before the club.  It's kind of nice to have a past teacher on the board with you and have your 20-plus year fishing buddy with you also.  In the last few years I have attended almost every outing and have grown into my fly fishing since then.  I tie and cast to catch fish, if you know what I mean.  I'm still in search for a 30" plus inch native rainbow, only 1/2" to go.

Dan Shimek

DanI have been fly fishing for about 15 years.  I enjoy taking my pontoon boat down any navigable river for trout and steelhead.  I also enjoy stillwater fly fishing, some of my favorites are Hosmer Lake and Gold Lake. I have been a club member since 2002. I became a board member in 2003, and was president 2005-2009.
