Stocking
Claggett Lake 2004

This year the club decided to stock Claggett and Sheep
Lake as one of our conservation projects On July17, we started our day at
Fisherman’s Bend State Park. As a
group, we carpooled up to Marion Fork’s Fish Hatchery, where we meet with
ODFW biologist. The loaded 600 tiny
fish both Cutthroat and Eastern Brook trout into 8 three-gallon
buckets. We drove up to the
trailhead that leads into the Campfire Lakes Basin, off of the South
Breitenbush River. We hiked the
half-mile into Claggett Lake where we dumped 300 fish. A small group continued on another
quarter-mile to Sheep Lake. This was a popular event, we had about 14 people hike
into the lakes, and only 8 people carried the fish filled buckets. We carried the buckets in
backpacks. We finished to hike with
hamburger and hotdogs at the trailhead.
We had beautiful weather and great conversation.
